Celebrations All Round!
Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition
Congratulations to our Year 6 students on an outstanding Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition. Despite the challenges that the year has presented for these students, they have grown in resilience, have demonstrated the capacity to be independent, self-reflective and developed an awareness of the wider world that surrounds them. They have shown a true appreciation for each other, our school and themselves as learners.
This year’s PYP exhibition was simply spectacular and we have been truly blown away by the incredible learning that has taken place. The PYP Exhibition is a significant event in the Primary Years Programme, where students participate in a culminating project known as the ‘Exhibition’. Students engage in a collaborative inquiry process that involves them identifying, investigation and offering solutions to real-life issues or problems. Students demonstrate their capacity to generate deep meaningful lines of inquiry based on an area of interest, connected to the world. The process itself requires students to demonstrate all of the learning attributes and dispositions that they have developed throughout their experience within the Primary Years Programme. There is an important component of ‘taking action’ providing students with the capacity to consider how they can make a difference to our world. Connecting to our community and sharing through the process of an exhibition, allows our students to demonstrate their understanding of what they have learnt and to identify how their project makes a difference to our world.
Please join me in congratulating the Year 6 students of 2020 for an outstanding PYP Exhibition, their Year 6 teachers Mrs Dorothy Segar and Mr Andrew Carroll, Mrs Anna Carswell, Stage 3 Coordinator, Mrs Karen Wallace our PYP Coordinator, Mrs Rebecca Grneski, Junior School Admin, and our many mentors and Junior School staff.
Celebrations of learning continued this week and students were thrilled to be able to share their learning with their families live. It was encouraging to see so many families jump on to the live link and then return to view after the event. Thank you for your support as we return to our events this term.
