Illawarra Grammar offers academic, music and sport scholarships generally for students entering Year 7.

Scholarships at Illawarra Grammar

Illawarra Grammar is the top performing independent school in the region and has a renewed and increased focus on effective pedagogy and excellent academic outcomes.
Our highly-sought-after scholarships are generally offered for entry into Year 7 and continue until Year 12. Scholarships may cover full or part of the tuition fees. Recipients are expected to be positively involved in the life of the School.

Academic Scholarship

Academic excellence is a core pillar at Illawarra Grammar. Every possible step is taken to ensure our classrooms are places of rigorous and engaging learning.
We encourage high-performing students entering Year 7 to apply for an academic scholarship and to take advantage of our extension learning programs, academic mentoring, and array of academic co-curricular opportunities.

Applicants who proceed to the audition stage will be notified after the closing date.

Illawarra Grammar offers talented young musicians access to exceptional equipment, facilities and teachers, further enhanced by our comprehensive Music Tutor program and annual School Production.
We welcome students with a high level of music ability entering Year 7 to apply for a music scholarship.

Sport Scholarship

The Illawarra Grammar School strongly encourages outstanding performance in sport and provides opportunities for students to represent the School at local, state, national and international levels.
Applications for sports scholarships may be made at any time for entry into Year 7 to 10.

The Rev Richard Bosanquet Scholarship

Applications for 2026 are open.

Applications close: Wednesday 12 February 2025.

This scholarship, funded by the TIGS Foundation, is available each year to a student entering Year 10, either from within or outside the School.
The Scholarship is a reduction of $500 off the tuition fees each term in Years 10-12 inclusive.
The criteria for this scholarship include a means test as well as solid academic results and excellent citizenship in Year 9.

Scholarship Process

Submit a Scholarship Application
Ensure all relevant documentation is included. A non-refundable scholarship application fee of $140 applies. If you are applying for more than one scholarship, separate applications must be made.

Complete Testing
To secure a scholarship, you are required to make an Enrolment Application. Some music scholarship applicants will be required to participate in an audition before a panel.

Interview
If your son or daughter is shortlisted for scholarship consideration, we will contact you to attend an interview.

Offer of Scholarship
We will notify you of the outcome of your scholarship application, and advise whether it is a full or partial scholarship.

Make an Enrolment Application

To secure a scholarship, you are required to make an Enrolment Application. A student’s place in our scholarship program is confirmed once the Enrolment Application, Enrolment Agreement and Enrolment Fee have been received.

Commencement Details
