Building Leadership Skills for Life

At Illawarra Grammar, every student is given the opportunity to develop age-appropriate leadership skills.
Through student-led initiatives, service opportunities and formal leadership positions, students from across our Junior School and Senior School are encouraged and equipped to be exceptional role models.
Leadership at Illawarra Grammar is shaped by our School Mission and Values, and is characterised by the integration of Christian beliefs and principles into leadership roles and responsibilities.

Junior School Leadership

From the very start of a child’s schooling journey at Illawarra Grammar, they are encouraged to be a good role model, to help one another achieve their best, and to look out for those in need.

Each year students are selected for the following positions:

  • Head Prefects
  • Deputy Head Prefects
  • Chapel Prefect(s)
  • House Captains
  • Academic (Subject) Captains

Senior School Leadership

A defining characteristic of an Illawarra Grammar graduate is their leadership ability.
Students across our Senior School are given opportunities to be strong leaders of themselves, others and in the community.

Each year students are selected for the following positions:

Year 12
  • School Prefects
  • Vice Prefects
  • Chapel Prefect(s)
Year 11
  • House Captains
  • Academic Captains
  • Sport Captain(s)
