Service

We believe that community service opportunities broaden our students’ worldview and shape their character.

Forming Faithful Stewards of Our World

At Illawarra Grammar, we take immense pride in our students’ genuine desire to be of service to each other, to their School, to the community and beyond.
This aligns with our School Mission, “that students are equipped to act with wisdom, compassion and justice as faithful stewards of our world.”

Local Service Opportunities

We facilitate student participation in local community initiatives with Para Meadows School, Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation, The Disability Trust, The Water Gift, Manna House and more.
These experiences enrich our students’ education and foster a strong sense of social responsibility in the community.

Service Trips

Year 10 Asia Trip

From 2025, Year 10 students will have the opportunity to visit an Asian country to serve a local community. Illawarra Grammar students may be involved in building projects, assisting the mission of a church or helping local families.

Year 11 Sony Camp

This camp brings together students from our School and children living with disabilities in the Illawarra for a fun weekend of respite care. Sony Camp is a collaborative effort between Illawarra Grammar, The Disability Trust and the Sony Foundation, with generous funding from the TIGS Foundation Taj Mahal Event.

Year 11 Nganambala Visit

Each year, a group of Year 11 students travel to the remote community of Nganambala in the Northern Territory, where we have a “sister” school. Students engage in a range of service projects and cultural activities.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

During their time at Illawarra Grammar, more than half of our Senior School students participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award which has a voluntary service component.
Our students have completed hundreds of hours of service, in areas such as surf life saving, soup kitchen, coaching younger sport teams, cleaning up rubbish and more.

Fundraising Activities

We organise various internal fundraising efforts, including Toys N Tucker, Biggest Morning Tea, Year 12 Charity Trivia Night, RU OK? Day, and more. These events not only raise essential funds but also promote awareness and engagement within our community.
Our school community enthusiastically supports these initiatives, demonstrating a collective commitment to making a positive impact and fostering a culture of generous service and kindness.
