Welcome to Term IV!
What a great start to the term that we have had! We have many students that have joined us this semester:
Maggie – Kindergarten
Olive, Bronte, Anouk – Year 1
Elias, Charlie, Mateo, Alby, Keerthi, Mateo – Year 3
Morgan, Huxley and Edie Year 5
Please join me in welcoming their families to our beautiful school. They have settled in so well with the superb care and support of their buddies, peers, teachers and our lovely community! Our new students are a wonderful addition to our community.
We’ve had a busy few weeks and enjoyed the many events that have taken place including Book Week celebrations, Music a Viva and our first live-streamed Celebration of Learning.
Celebrations Of Learning
Our first Celebration of Learning took place this week with Kindergarten providing a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect with their families. Our Kindergarten students proudly shared their learning, showing their wonderful performance skills. Thank you for joining our live link and please know, this will still be available for viewing via your child’s OLLE page. Year 1 to Year 5 are busy preparing for their Celebration of Learning in the coming weeks. Year 6 will be presenting their incredible Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition next week.
Music A Viva
Music continue to provide outstanding opportunities, despite the many challenges this year has presented. Students across the school engaged with the annual ‘Musica Viva’ programme on Thursday via a live, Zoom connection. This programme provides an enriching live, interactive musical experience for all students to engage with. This year our students enjoyed a performance by the ‘Music in my Suitcase’ ensemble, which included cultural instruments including the baglama and bouzouki. The performance explored Australian history, with a focus on languages and culture. A special thank you to Ms Claire Hollander and Mrs Liana Bonaccorso for organising such a great event
Book Week 2020
Book Week is one of our favourite weeks of the year and we are thrilled that we had the opportunity to celebrate our love of books with a dress-up and celebration of our favourite characters. This year’s theme ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’, provided wonderful stimulation for students and staff, inspiring many fun and imaginative costumes. This year the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) acknowledges a number of outstanding authors and their books. Our students have enjoyed these throughout the week, and have participated in a number of fabulous activities. A special thank you to Mrs Karen Bowmaker and Junior School teachers for ensuring that our Book Week was a wonderful success.
