Senior School News: Looking Ahead to Term III
YEAR 9 2025 INFORMATION EVENING
The Year 9 2025 Parent Information Evening is scheduled to take place on the evening of the first day of Term III, Tuesday 23 July, commencing at 5.30pm. In Stage 5, students will continue to learn subjects such as English, Maths and Science but will have the option to select two elective courses that align with their passions and interests. The event will take place in the IGC and Year 8 students, and parents/carers are warmly encouraged to attend. During the evening, there will be a brief presentation by our Head of Academics, Mr Chris Breheny, which will be followed by an opportunity to talk to a number of our teaching staff, representing each of the Stage 5 elective subjects on offer. A ‘Stage 5 Subject Selection Guide’ containing details of the elective courses on offer will be emailed to Year 8 families before the event and a paper copy will be provided to all families in attendance. Should you have any questions ahead of the evening, please contact Mr Breheny, or speak with Ms Rowe, Dean of Year 8.
Changes to Student Leadership and Seniority
At the start of next term, students in Year 10 and 11 will be invited to submit their applications for formal Student Leadership positions. In 2025, the majority of positions will be undertaken by Year 11 and Year 12 students (with the exception of our three senior Student Leadership positions which will remain open to six Year 12s only). This will provide new opportunities for appropriately-gifted Year 11 students to serve the School and support Year 12 students who are seeking to balance the demands of leadership with maintaining their commitment to their HSC studies in their final year of school.
This week, Dr Greenhalgh wrote to Year 9 families to confirm that, from Term I 2025, Year 10 will commence wearing the senior (red) uniform, formally marking their progression into their senior years in the School.
