Da Vinci Decathlon Success
The Junior School continues to be a hive of activity as we enjoy the opportunities to welcome visitors to our classrooms for our Celebrations of Learning and the ability to venture out into the community for the many excursions that are currently taking place. Our students relish the opportunities to make meaningful connections to the content that they have been learning in the classroom through the external learning opportunities. This learning is further showcased during our Celebrations of Learning, where our students articulate their new discoveries to our visitors.
The Da Vinci Decathlon is an academic competition designed to challenge and stimulate the minds of school students. Students compete in teams of eight across ten disciplines: engineering, Mathematics, code breaking, art and poetry, Science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and legacy.
This year the theme was ‘Chaos’. Our students participated well. Teamwork is challenged as students are under time pressure and a high work-load. Of significant note, Year 6 came first in engineering, art and poetry and cartography. Year 6 placed third overall. Both the Year 6 team and the Year 5 team have been accepted into the state competition which will be held on July 27. The theme for the state competition is ‘Unity’. Both teams enjoyed the competition and are looking forward to another opportunity to compete in July. A huge thank you to Mrs Nicki Stanis and Mrs Anna Carswell for their dedication in preparing the students and supporting them throughout the competition.

We look forward to your attendance at our Great Fete on Saturday. There will be a number of special performances by our Junior School students and we thank our Music and Dance staff for their careful preparation and encouragement of our students. We are always very proud to showcase our School and were thrilled that our fete will take place. We are particularly grateful to all of the parents and friends who have offered their time on the day and made generous donations to the fair. A huge congratulations to Lena Huda our P&F President, members and families for their wonderful organisation to ensure a fabulous, memorable event.
