Mr James Hegarty from Australian Steel Mill Services (ASMS) recently guest lectured Year 8 science students about the process and uses for slag, a steel making by-product which is also used in the cement industry.
Mr Hegarty was extremely impressed by the innovative ideas that our students came up with during his visit, so much so that several of the concepts discussed were taken and presented to top level executives from ASMS. In Mr Hegarty’s words he ‘found the experience to be amazing’.
Some of the student work may even be further developed and is being assessed for commercial viability.
