On Wednesday, students and staff from TIGS Prep, Kindergarten and Years 1 and 2 thoroughly enjoyed National Simultaneous Storytime in the Goodhew Resource Centre (Library). Our community joined over 2.1 million other participants across Australia who celebrated the event, which aims to promote Australian books and the value of reading and literacy, and emphasise the importance of libraries. Principal Mrs Judi Nealy educated and entertained students by teaching them a song about the benefits of moving slowly and calmly like a sloth, and read this year’s celebrated book The Speedy Sloth by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie. Year 12 student Tom Kirby filled the library space with his beautiful acoustic guitar version of The Beatles’ Blackbird, and Library Technician Mr David Green also had fun reading and singing with an excited audience.
