Pure Joy

Head of Junior School – Ms Geneva Clayton
May 08 2020

Term II began with smiles from ear to ear.  Whether this was virtually or onsite, the pure joy between our students and their teachers was so clearly evident in the first Zoom on Monday. School is more than tasks set and a list of ‘to do things’ for the day. The relationships, the social connections, the ability to focus on learning and connections with each other were clear. Establishing a routine and ensuring that students are engaged has been the focus of the return to school these past few weeks, whether this was virtually or at school. We feel incredibly satisfied and proud that we have established a structure that will allow us to move forward with increased attendance of students, or lean back into should we be in a position where we need to move off-campus in the future. With the advice to stagger the return of students from Week 3, we will welcome back Kindergarten to Year 2 students to their classrooms. Please feel reassured that our careful planning is based on the safety regulations, in accordance with health guidelines. The safety of our community remains a priority, balancing the needs of our young learners and families. Our staff continue to work hard to provide excellent off-campus offerings for students in Year 3 to Year 6, and a transition to a face to face programme in Kindergarten to Year 2.

Happy Mother’s Day

It is at this time that we look to our usual calendar events and realise, with a tinge of sadness, that we are unable to come together as a community to celebrate our annual Mother’s Day breakfast and stall. The mothers, carers, grandmothers, sisters and aunts we thank you. Thank you for everything that you have done to support our little people during this incredibly difficult time. The home learning support that has required you to juggle multiple hats including full-time work and to transform into your child’s teacher is truly applaudable. Please know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed, particularly during our Zooms, and that we are incredibly grateful for your support. May Sunday bring you breakfast in bed with a warm cup of tea, and perhaps an afternoon of ‘you time’.

Have a wonderful Mother’s Day and we look forward to welcoming Kindergarten to Year 2 back to school on Monday!
