Surfing

The annual Inter-School Pines surfing day took place on Tuesday 10 May. Torrential rain and frequent wind squalls made conditions trying for both competitors and spectators. Despite the challenges our surfers competed strongly. Both TIGS Team One and Team Two gave their best in the 60 minute, six surfer heats. Working as a team they needed to balance catching waves with the ticking clock while competing against four other schools. TIGS Team One progressed through to the semi-finals but unfortunately not Team Two. The latter supported their schoolmates with great spirit. Team One cruised through the semi’s, making it into the finals. The finals saw six schools face off and TIGS achieved a commendable third place, behind Holy Spirit in second and Bulli High in first. Male surfer of the tournament was the one and only Samuel Lowe. Congratulations to all those who participated on the day.
