CBCA Book Week
17 – 23 October 2020, Term IV

The Children’s Book Council of Australia’s ‘Book Week’ is an annual, national event that encourages and celebrates the talent and literary imagination of Australian authors and illustrators, existing and emerging, to deliver quality literature to Australian children.
There are six categories in the CBCA Book of the Year Awards:

  • CBCA Book of the Year: Older Readers
  • CBCA Book of the Year: Younger Readers
  • CBCA Book of the Year: Early Childhood
  • CBCA Picture Book of the Year
  • Eve Pownall Award
  • CBCA Award for New Illustrator (previously the Crichton Award)

If you would like to learn more about Book Week please visit The Children’s Book Council of Australia.

Book Week usually occurs in Term III however due to COVID-19 it has been moved to Term IV where we will celebrate with our dress-up day, Book Week activities and visiting authors Tristan Bancks and Jack Heath. Students have been introduced to each of the authors and their books in Library lessons and  I encourage all students to read as many books by these authors as they can to make the author visits as rewarding as possible. Information about the authors and excerpts of their stories are available through Term II class Library OLLE pages. We will keep you all informed of our Book Week events.
