Welcome to TIGS Senior School Year 7
We were excited to introduce our incoming Year 7 class to the remarkable experiences awaiting them. During the recent Orientation Days on November 9 and 10, eager Year 6 students joined us at the Senior School, providing a glimpse of their exciting secondary school journey.
The Orientation Days were a whirlwind of activities, designed to fuel their curiosity and passion for learning. Dr McKenzie and Year 10 students led a captivating HSIE lesson, delving into the world of humanities and social sciences, while Mrs Baird and Mr Tome guided students through an engaging STEM class, unveiling the wonders of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
In addition, students had the chance to explore their interests by choosing between Visual Arts with Mr Rossiter or Music with Mr Toombs, unleashing their creativity and passion. An English lesson with one of our outstanding teachers provided insight into the world of language and literature.
The second day was equally thrilling, with a delicious barbecue lunch to energize our young scholars. They also experienced a taster language lesson to help them decide their language studies for the upcoming year.
House spirit filled the air during a friendly competition between Kogara and Wolgal, and Aranda and Coligan. Congratulations to Wolgal and Coligan for taking home the trophy!
The enthusiasm of Year 6 students and their families was inspiring, and we eagerly anticipate the official start of the 2024 academic year. As the Year 7, 2024 cohort becomes part of the School family, we encourage them to embrace the journey ahead. Our School is not just a place of learning; it’s a community where friendships form, talents flourish, and dreams become reality.
With the foundation laid during the Orientation Days, we’re confident that Year 7, 2024 students will thrive in both their academic and personal pursuits.
