Year 9 and Year 10 Chinese Cultural Excursion

May 20 2022

Language studies are enriched by understanding the intricacies of the culture and context in which they exist. The way languages are applied in the real world can vary greatly from place to place. Australians are known for abbreviating as many words as possible and extensive use of slang terms, many other countries have similar quirks to their use of language.

To gain a better understanding of the complex way in which Mandarin is used in Chinese culture our Year 9 and Year 10 Mandarin Elective students recently travelled to Sydney where they explored one of the largest collections of Chinese contemporary art at the White Rabbit Gallery, followed by a delicious yum cha lunch in Chinatown.
